B+     FIREGIRL    By: Tony Abott

                              summary
Firegirl is a great story about a boy named Tom. One day at school he gets a new girl in his class, Jessica Feeney. There is something though, about her they need to know how she got terribly burned, melted as they commonly say.  Through the book Tom tries to find ways to be kind but struggles for his best friend is supposedly to cool for helping others. I think Abott is incredible with showing one perspective and making us still see others.

I personally connect to this book and believe all people eight and up would to. It has really inspired me to try harder to be a good person. Read Firegirl today 

Cinder  by:Marissa Meyers    B+

Basic View

Cinder is a great story about a cyborg named Cinder. It also is a great take on Cinderella, yet it is fresh and new.  I felt personal connections in this book. For example, I liked every time she observes a situation and makes a quick decision because I find myself doing that in everyday life.. 

summary
Cinder is a cyborg mechanic. She always tries to sell her things at the market. In future Beijing, her stepmother and two stepsisters don't let her feel welcomed into the world. Also, they are tying to stop Lunars (moon people who have evil powers) from taking over.  Another thing is, there is a terrible plague going around and the emperor has it. Since the emperor has the plague, his son Kai has to take over the kingdom. He has to also become the knew emperor because they have no cure for the plague. It could be an A review but it is a complicated plot line. So complicated that it feels like reading three books at the same time and trying to keep them straight.

I recommend this book for older 4th grade - high school age kids. It is a unique story of love and violence but not violence for love but for something a lot different.........

Read Cinder now, read Scarlett tomorrow and then wait for the 3rd Lunar chronicle book to come out.

Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine   A 



Mockingbird is a story about a young girl who has Aspergers, a type of autism.  Her brother just died in a school shooting that devastated the small town. The story is about her having to fight through these two challenges. I felt like this book goes deep into everyone who reads it's emotions because it makes you realize how lucky you are. I recommend this book to people 3rd grade and up. This book will blow you away because it comes from a point of view you would never expect .

Max  by James Patterson     A-

Max is an action-packed adventure about kids who have . . . wings!  Maximum Ride (also known as Max) is the leader, followed by Fang, Angel, Total (a flying dog) and the rest of the flock.  Of course this seems straight-forward, but would you believe me if I said there was chaos in every chapter, enemies on each page and romance throughout the book?  I think Max is a little bit of everything.  It's like a never-ending ride of adventure: a star in the morning.  I recommend this book for fifth-grade through high school aged kids.  But remember to read the four books that begin the flock's adventures:  The Angel Experiment, Schools's Out Forever, Saving the World, and The Final Warning.

Witch and Wizard. By James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet.  B


          Basic Summary

Witch and Wizard is a story about a brother and sister who get kidnapped and jailed illegally. Eventually they realize the reason is they are a witch and a wizard. Whit and Wisty are very cunning and always have a trick, but the authors take this normal story to a different level.

They must work to survive and work to get home.   Carter, Jane, Buzz, and Vanessa's biggest test may be working together.

Forest Born      A+
by Shannon Hale

Forest Born is an amazing story. Shannon Hale's words are magical. I found myself relating to feelings I had never felt before. It made me feel in the story with the characters. 



Warning:Read the the other books in the series before Forest Born(The Goose Girl, Enna Burning,and River Secrets.)
                             Synopsis

Rinna grew up with seven brothers. She learned from all of them, but especially Razo. Once she decided to go to the city with him. When she goes, she gets a job as the queen's lady-in-waiting and gets used to watching the little prince, Tusken. When the king gets burned by fire speakers, Dasha, Ani, and Enna go to find them. Rin follows. 

In this book it is important to understand emotions. You must know why they feel pain and why they feel relief. I recommend this for kids 10-16 years old. It will leave a powerful impression on everyone who reads it.

Walls Within Walls

Walls within walls is about 3 siblings who discover a hidden inheritance for the children who lived there before. They find clues that lead them on a journey to find hidden secrets in walls within walls of the house. They even seek help from the daughter of the old family who still lives in the apartment.

This story is about siblings working together, unity, and teamwork.Walls within walls will blow you away. 

I really enjoyed reading this and  people 7-13 will too.

One Crazy Summer

One Crazy summer is about three girls who find their mother who had abandoned them at a young age. It is a heartwarming book about sisterhood and motherhood. This book takes place in a time where colored men and women were not completely accepted. In this generation, most events in the book would not have happened. This book by Rita Williams-Garcia is a story you will not forget.  This book is great for mostly girls in grades 3rd-6th but some boys might like it, too.   You can easily find this book at a library near you. I love how much inspiration this book leaves.

The Goose Girl. B+
The Goose Girl is a very creative book which really sparks your imagination. Shannon Hale knows how to twist a book. One problem with the book, is the beginning is slow, but If you can get past that you will love it. 
         









Synopsis
Anidori-kiladra- Talianna-Isilee was born with her eyes closed for 3 days.  Her aunt sang songs and told stories through her life until one day her aunt left and never returned. The songs and stories were about people who talked to everything. Birds,horses, fire,wind,nature and even people that, when they talk to you you can not help but obey them. The big thing is Ani (as some call her) is the princess of Kildenree. Her mother is trying to take control of her life and everyone thinks she is crazy because she talks to the geese,swans,and her horse Falada. When she turned 15, as they mourned her fathers death, her mother revealed that when she was 6 she married Ani off to the prince of Bayern. Bayern is a country 13 1/2 months away. Soon she left with a group of guards and her best friend Selia, her lady in waiting.
